The primary function of the Data Architect is to support the information needs of internal and external customers through design, development and support of an effective, accurate, and timely data warehouse environment to support the business intelligence infrastructure.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have three to five years of verifiable work experience in database administration or data warehouse development. Candidates must be skilled in using SQL and ETL processes to cleanse and populate a common data warehouse that is fed by multiple sources. It is important that the candidate possess the ability to interact with internal and external customers and operations teams.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Oracle PL/SQL, and Pentaho BI Suite. Experience with Java applications, ESB, Progress 4GL, and Groovy is a plus. Knowledge of logistics processes, terms and business procedures is preferred. However, proven aptitude in other technologies and processes will still be considered.
Primary Responsibilities:
1) Determine and analyze source data systems and develop and enhance the Data Warehouse scheme and refresh processes for efficient and accurate reporting.
2) Design Data Warehouse to support efficient and accurate reporting.
3) Develop and support ETL processes to update and maintain the data warehouse.
4) Provide database administration support for BI Analyst to efficiently and accurately report on data from the data warehouse.
5) Research, resolve, document, and communicate status of functional and data related issues.
6) Monitor data quality and integrity with the goal of continuous improve of departmental output.
7) Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
1) Knowledge of Oracle databases and Kettle (Pentaho) ETL tool.
2) Competency in Microsoft Office Suite including Access.
3) Ability to work both independently and in a team environment and interface with customers, application managers, senior management and support groups.
4) Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
5) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6) Prior experience in the Logistics industry is a plus. This position requires the ability to think! The qualified person must be able to think outside of the box and come up with solutions on their own. Additionally, the qualified person must have the initiative and drive to get things done on their own. True problem solvers needed!
